Rosy also taught some workshops whilst she was here, which I found very inspiring, and I know the participants did too. Rosy has such a warm and approachable personality, and her workshops were very much open discussions between herself and the students about many aspects of burlesque. I look forward to seeing her again at the Australian Burlesque Festival 2011, which will be announcing it's dates and venues soon! The other big highlight at "Dear Santa" was seeing our students the Peach Blossoms making their debut performance. They put a lot of hard work into their routine, and I know there were a few pre-show jitters backstage, which they managed to shake as soon as they hit the stage. Sapphire and I are incredibly proud of them, and look forward to seeing them perform in our student showcases, which we will be starting in the new year.
As well as performances by Rosy and the Peach Blossoms, Sapphire and myself premiered some new acts, as well as brought out some old favourites.
Sapphire also performed a saucy act with Joe Spades.
My favourite routine to perform was a duo with Dave Salter. I had so much fun with Dave on stage. Re-enacting the love affair between Mrs Clause and Rudolph was a magical moment.
Of course, we couldn't do it without our regular cast members, Cara Louise and Rohan Watts, who have been with us since the beginning. Their entertainment skills are astounding!
We'd like to thank our official photographer, Darklight Photography, as well as John Rothe Videography for capturing the event on film. A big thankyou also to Emma, Caitlin, Andrew, and all the other Nexus Multicultural Arts staff who are always so supportive and helpful. We can't wait to once again be on the Nexus stage again for our Adelaide Fringe season of "Burlesque Upon A Time". You can expect to see lots of story time sauciness.
